Under the Veranda is a block of the month program hosted by a local quilt shop, Wish Upon a Quilt. This is a sampler quilt that caught my eye because of all the different techniques used to construct the different blocks. It seemed like a great learning opportunity, so I signed up! If you are wondering why December is absent from mention when talking about this quilt, it is because the shop skipped that month in order to give everyone time to work on their Christmas projects. Each month the shop hosts a lecture on the block, and during the months in which the block is not very demanding there is also an optional bonus project.

Update 6/14/2015: Only one block left to go! The last block will be that long appliquéd vine you see on the right side of the quilt in the photo above. We have already received our backing fabric, and all the finished blocks are just itching to be joined. I am not sure, but I believe I head them saying the “club” runs through August… so it is possible that we won’t receive the border and sashing fabric until then. I suppose this means I should start thinking about quilting designs.
